Evidence of Plan Review

View/Edit Details Goal Strengths/Progress Concerns What needs to be adjusted or done differently in order to accomplish the stated goal?
1. HSPE — Students, particularly IEP, FRL and LEP students, will continue to improve their basic math foundations and reading comprehension in preparation for the proficiency requirements for the HSPE. Bi-Annual Review - All struggling Algebra 1-2 students have been assigned a peer tutor who meets with them roughly 2-3 times a week. All juniors/seniors still needing to pass any HSPE exams are receiving targeted interventions. Pass rates on the November exam were very strong in both the LEP and ELL subcategories Freshmen are struggling in Alg. 1-2 and Biology. We feel that this will carry forward to their success on the HSPE. Peer tutors in math have been positive support for their students but mentors in english need more direction and training. Adjusting bell schedule for the next school year to provide a more fixed ability for remediation and support.
2. Credit Deficiency — The number of credit deficient 9th and 10th grade students will decrease Bi-Annual Review - Improvement in credit deficiency occured at the 10th grade level but not at the 9th grade level. Peer tutors, mentors, and teacher tutoring have been positive interventions for students. Flex Intervention time has been utilized to provide struggling students with assistance as well. 9th grade students are struggling with completing homework, preparing for exams and this has resulted in failing grades. Earlier intervention for struggling students is needed. In addition, a longer, more fixed period of intervention/remediation needs to be available. More direct communication with feeder schools needs to occur so that they can assist in preparing students for the high school level.
3. Technology — Increase technology access, use and training across all curriculum areas Bi-Annual Review - RHS now has 32 fully interactive classrooms as well as a new mini-Mac lab. Extensive professional development has been provided to staff in the area of technology, as well as utilizing that technology to differentiate instruction and improve communication. Funding to continue expansion of technology to more classrooms. Grant writing to secure additional funding. Continued professional development.
