The members of the Smithridge Elementary School Community are committed to a process of collaboration with high expectations and ongoing evaluation, in order to provide dynamic opportunities for each child and adult in our community to learn, grow, and develop a unique individuality and ability to function interdependently.

Statement of Beliefs: We, at Smithridge Elementary School, believe that children learn best when: Teachers acknowledge that children learn differently. Teachers practice respectful, open communication across grade levels. Teachers work to enhance their own instruction through on-going professional development. Students, parents, and teachers have high expectations and share responsibility for achievement. Students have an academic continuum. Students develop intrinsic motivation for life-long learning and teachers help them find it. Students are in a safe, comfortable environment with an atmosphere of support and respect for individual differences. Families, school, and the community share the opportunities and responsibilities for making decisions that affect teaching and learning.
