School Mission or Vision Statement
The WCSD Middle Schools and Board of Trustees have adopted the National Forum To Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform “Schools To Watch” criteria. Our mission and theirs is to create middle schools that are academically excellent, socially equitable and developmentally responsive.

The staff at Sparks Middle School, working with our students and parents, will provide educational opportunities so that ALL WILL LEARN to become responsible citizens in a nurturing environment where Diversity means strength, Knowledge means freedom, and Commitment means success.
School Highlights
• The district ELLIS, PLATO and Read 180 programs supported our “at risk” population.
• The Early High School program at Sparks High enabled some 8th graders to take advanced classes and earn high school credit.
• Students and parents were honored by our business community during the B.E.S.T. barbeque in spring.
• Latin outreach programs sponsored by community services and UNR have promoted higher expectations of our diverse student population.
• Literacy across the curriculum was focused upon and student work was rewarded during team sponsored assemblies.
• Teachers worked in academic teams to better facilitate student success.
• Algebraic Foundations classes have been introduced to help students who we have identified as needing more support in math.
