To teach the children who come, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, socioeconomic background, or gender, how to read, write, think, compute, test take, speak well, appreciate the arts, and behave in socially acceptable ways, so that they can become economically independent, contributing members of society.
School Highlights
• A school-wide writing program was implemented for all students and great gains in writing were made on the 06-07 state writing test
• The school received grants to assist with school improvement.
• Virginia Palmer ES implemented a recess before lunch program as recommended by the Nevada Department of Education.
• The school improvement team and professional learning community philosophy is taking hold as a culture at the school.
• Virginia Palmer ES worked in conjunction with Life Touch to develop a new style for the yearbook.
• A variety of programs for students, including a science fair, cheer and soccer teams, and music programs were offered to provide opportunities for students to feel more connected to the school community.
• District grant funds were given to Virginia Palmer ES to provide a full day kindergarten program.
• Virginia Palmer ES received SB 185 funding to provide remedial tutoring program for students.
• Virginia Palmer ES received a grant to provide Compass training and equipment for all grades.
• The school showed growth on use of best practice instructional strategies based on T4S Classroom Observations.
• Virginia Palmer ES continues to strive to implement HM with fidelity.
• Additional parent involvement activities have been planned for the school year.
