As educators of academic and social behavior, we will consistently strive to offer our students a nurturing and safe environment that will allow each child to develop his/her fullest potential.
School Highlights
Silver Lake received a new roof, new carpet, and $14,000 from the carpet company to spend on students and supplies.
The state grant funded a part-time teacher for new language learners and a Literacy Specialist for struggling readers.
The state grant provided monies for professional development for teachers in the areas of reading and writing.
The teachers received training in Basic English Language Learning (BELLs) and Weaving Words across the Curriculum.
Other professional trainings included Guided Language Acquisition Development (GLAD) and Houghton Mifflin literacy.
Intersessions began for remediation/enrichment of off-track students utilizing state grant monies.
Lifestyle Homes provided monies for seven full-time classroom aides for literacy and math.
Washoe County School District provided $11,000 for information textbooks and dictionaries for our students.
An anti-bullying survey for students demonstrated that our students feel safe and ready to learn.
Our PTO has facilitated many fun activities for our families, such as Skate Night, Chili Chow Down, and our school carnival
