School Highlights
• Continuous improvement in student achievement was recognized by the Governor’s office in its selection of NVHS as one of ten “Honor Grant High Schools” in the state of Nevada.
• NVHS was selected for membership in the International Center for Leadership in Education’s Successful Practices Network.
• NVHS was awarded an Innovation and Remediation Grant for $169,000 to expand the Panther Academic support program, PASS.
• NVHS was designated as one of the top 1000 high schools in the U.S. (top 5%) by Newsweek’s Challenge Index.
• Eighteen seniors received recognition as Nevada High School Scholars for outstanding college entrance scores and GPA.
• Justin Nickles and Jordan Cook were the state winners in the U.S. Military Academy’s West Point Bridge Design Contest.
• Jimmy Walker and Troy Bonham won the Regional Science Fair and Laurel Hardiman won the 2006 TRIG STAR competition.
• Valedictorian Cheyene Cortez was recognized by the NIAA as one of the top ten student athletes in Northern Nevada
• Ms. Kathie Zegers earned her National Board Certification.
• Mr. Rob Hastings was selected as the NIAA’s Model Coach.
• Ms. C.J. Waddell and Mr. Jason Ehlen received Coach of the Year Honors in swimming and football, respectively.
